Reporting Misconduct
All educational support employees, instructional personnel, contracted personnel, and school administrators have an affirmative duty to report suspected misconduct that affects the health, safety, or welfare of a student. Examples of reportable misconduct include, but are not limited to:
• Inappropriate physical contact with a student
• Verbal, emotional, or psychological abuse
• Sexual misconduct or inappropriate boundaries
• Neglect of student supervision resulting in potential harm
• Possession, use, or distribution of illegal substances while responsible for students
• Any conduct that endangers a student’s health, safety, or welfare

Mandatory Reporting
All employees must comply with Florida laws regarding the reporting of suspected child abuse, abandonment, or neglect.
Failure to Report
Educational support employees, instructional personnel, contracted personnel, and school administrators who fail to report suspected or actual child abuse or alleged misconduct affecting the health, safety, or welfare of a student may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment, and any penalties provided under Florida law.
Liability Protections
Employees who report suspected misconduct or suspected child abuse, abandonment, or neglect in good faith are afforded liability protections under applicable Florida law.
